Crossroads
Dark clouds enveloped the skies
Belligerent Lightning thundered in the horizon
He shuddered and shook
She steadfastly stood.
Wish it didn't have to come to this, she sighed
Never knew you were so hurt, He spluttered
Why didn't you say anything before this, He catechized
I cried many times, hoped you would notice my pain, She answered
You didn't care, you didn't listen, She continued.
I thought we were just going through a rough patch, He rued
Frankly, I never ever imagined it would come to this, He mumbled.
You never cared beyond your own self, She stated.
How is it wrong to think about oneself, He retorted.
It's not.. it's just that you never cared about me alongside, She elucidated.
He paused and pondered.
She held back and hoped.
Can't we put this behind us, He implored.
Only Time will tell, She whispered.
He held Her closer
Can't we go back to how we were, He pleaded.
Don't you remember how beautiful it was in the Beginning, he reminisced.
I never ever forgot...It was You, who faltered, she stated.
I realized my mistake. Doesn't that count for something?
I started making amends, haven't you noticed? He pleaded.
Are you changing for me or to save yourself, She asked
He was silent.
She was quiet.
We can never go back that way, She said.
That would lead us back here, yet again.
His tears flowed freely
She wept quietly
All these years I cried and you ignored
Today, when you despair, I grieve too
You mourn your losses
And I mourn with you
I bear the burden of your mistakes, more than you.
Is it the end then, He asked with regret and remorse
If it were, would we still be standing together, She comforted
How can we go back to what we had, He begged
There's no going back that path, She stated
What's broken is broken
What's done, can't be undone
No, we can never go back, She said wistfully.
But, maybe, if ...she hesitated
How can we be together again, He desperately sought
We can only move forward, she said
Will you take the lead this time, He asked
Will you let me, She questioned
I will, He promised
Don't promise, She said
Promises get broken
Try...Efforts always count
She and He were at cross roads
Man and Earth were at crossroads
Man looked at Earth. Earth looked benevolently at Man
A lot humbled, a bit wiser, Man followed Earth
Silently, Earth led him on a different path
A new beginning...a renewed start.
A sliver of hope sprouted, a ray of hope emerged
The dark clouds cleared,
The rainbow lit up the skies
Earth led Man
Man followed Earth.
Universe smiled once again.
